The next generation of Sony consoles is expected by 2020, but by then, the Japanese manufacturer wants to continue to extend the life of the PlayStation 4. The company's new bet in gaming accessories is a Back Button Attachment for DualShock 4. The competitively designed device comes with the promise of “greater versatility and performance” by adding two new back buttons.
According to the manufacturer, in a publication on the official PlayStation blog, the new enhancement may allow for “greater hand use to shorten response times, giving the user more flexibility in competitive gaming situations”. The two back buttons are programmable up to 16 different actions, and the Back Button Attachment includes a small OLED screen that demonstrates its configuration.
The buttons on the new DualShock 4 accessory can be programmed at any time, for example, without exiting a game to change its configuration. According to Sony, gamers can store up to three different profiles according to their needs. The Back Button Attachment also includes a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The new DualShock 4 "fixture" will reach the US and Canadian territories first on January 23, 2020. In Portugal, Back Button Attachment will be available from February 14 next year, by 29, 99 euros.
