WhatsApp continues to support multiple operating systems, but the company thinks it is no longer worth keeping Windows Phone in the compatible list. The technology company also announced that it will no longer support older versions of Android and iOS.
On its official website, the app writes that from now on, only devices running Android 4.0.3 or higher will be supported; iOS 9 or higher; and select smartphones with KaiOS 2.5.1 or higher (including JioPhone and JioPhone 2).
This new list of conditions will take effect on February 1, 2020, so devices with earlier versions of these operating systems will continue to be supported until that date. Windows Phone OS phones will no longer be compatible with the app starting today, December 31, 2019.
WhatsApp warns, however, that there are features that may stop working before the dates indicated. Creating new accounts and verifying existing ones has already been blocked on these systems which will no longer be supported.
